STUDENT LEADERSHIP
Matt Wood
President
Hi, My name is Matthew Wood, I'm in the class of 2023 so I will be serving as president during my first semester of senior year. I am currently studying Mathematics with a minor in leadership studies and on campus I am involved in Greek Life both academically and socially, I am a student ambassador, and I am a member of the CNU Club golf team. I'm very excited to serve as president as some of my favorite events were from my freshman year that I want to bring back, like our overnight beach retreat where I was first introduced to the Catholic Campus Ministry, and big events with other schools like our College Summit that was held this past semester.
Rebecca D'Souza
Faith Formation Co-Chair
Hi everyone! My name is Rebecca D’Souza, I am a junior majoring in Business Management and minoring in Philosophy and Religious Studies. I am from Springfield, VA and am a parishioner at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Annandale, VA. I am so excited to serve as the co-chair for Faith Formation at CCM! I also enjoy going on adventures and hanging out with friends. My favorite CCM event is Sunday Supper because it is a wonderful way to be with the community, eat good food, and start the week on a great note with great people. The motto I live by, which is also my favorite Bible quote, is 1 Corinthians 15:31, “Every day I face death; I swear it by the pride in you [brothers] that I have in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Marylee Helbling
Communication
Hey everyone! My name is Marylee Helbling. I am a Senior majoring in Marketing with a minor in Graphic Design. I will graduate in December 2022 and I am excited to serve the CCM again for one more (and my last) semester. I am from Fredericksburg, VA, and I love to take random trips to the mountains and/or the beach whenever I can with friends. Here in Newport News, I love going to Lion’s bridge for the sunset and hanging out on the lawn when it’s nice outside (small groups on the lawn are pretty great). My favorite bible verse at the moment is from James 4:8, “Draw near to God and he will draw near to you.”
Chris Lubinski
Liturgy
Howdy! My name is Christopher Lubinski. I am a rising junior double majoring in American Studies and Political Science with a minor in U.S. National Securities. My hometown is the Stafford County part of Fredericksburg. Outside of CCM, I am also involved with the Marching Captains and other band related events. I love to go hiking and often enjoy reading a good book. One of my favorite events the CCM holds is Milkshake Mondays because who doesn’t love free milkshakes? I am super excited to get more involved and to grow in my faith this year!
Grace Carroll
Service & Justice
Hello! My name is Grace Carroll and I am a rising sophomore. I am from Leesburg, VA and am a Communication major with a minor in Leadership studies. Apart from CCM, I am a member of Sigma Alpha Omega. My favorite verse is Matthew 11:28 and I am so excited to share and grow in faith with our CCM community this semester!
Philip Klote
Vice President
Howdy, everyone! My name is Philip Klote, and I have the wonderful opportunity of being your Vice President! I am a rising senior majoring in Philosophy and Religious Studies with a minor in Leadership Studies! I hail from Great Falls, Virginia, and am an active altar server at my home parish of Our Lady of Hope. Beyond my studies, I try to devote as much of my time to this wonderful Catholic Community! I have been told many times by many friends that I am a landmark in both my faith and in my height, so please don't be afraid to say hi when you spot me; this beautiful journey to God is so much more fun with good company!
Anthony DeTrane
Faith Formation Co-Chair
Helloha! My name is Anthony DeTrane and I am a rising junior majoring in Finance and minoring in Leadership! Fredericksburg, VA has been my home up until coming here to CNU. Aside from CCM, I am involved at the university as a member of the Honors and President’s Leadership Programs, played for the club rugby team, and worked as an RA. I think my favorite event at CCM is the weekly opportunity to participate in one of the small groups (join one!!). I am very excited to begin in this role as co-chair for Faith Formation and I pray to help others in discovering intimacy with Christ!
Taylor Dorsey
Evangelization
Hi my name is Taylor Dorsey, and I am ecstatic to be the evangelization chair for the Fall 2022 semester! I came to CCM this past year to begin the process of confirmation into the Catholic Church, not knowing that I would make some of the greatest friends and memories of my college career. I live in Richmond, Virginia, and while home I love to hike, visit museums, and walk around Carytown. I'm majoring in Psychology, and hoping to become an English teacher when I graduate this Fall. Some of my favorite things to do include reading, hanging out with my friends, and baking/watching The Great British Baking Show. My favorite CCM memory is when we had the Eucharistic Procession around the Great Lawn: it was such a beautiful example of our faith and a great way to share Christ The King with our wider community. My confirmation saint is St. Mary Magdalene, and my favorite Bible verse is Ecclesiastes 3:11- "He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end."
Kateri Kapp
Fellowship
Hello hello! I'm Kateri and I'm thrilled to continue serving as the CCM Fellowship chair for the Fall 2022 semester! A little about me, I hail from Nova, Springfield specifically, but my family just moved to San Antonio, Texas where they're all turning into cowboys. Speaking of family, I'm the third oldest of eight kids, yes we are the stereotypical big Catholic family that takes up an entire pew at mass but I digress. Here at CNU, I'm an RA in Santoro, involved with the PLP and honors programs and I'm majoring in Accounting with minors in Data Science and Leadership. My favorite part about CCM is the amazing people I've met and I look forward to meeting even more people in this coming semester!
