Matt Wood

Hi, my name is Matt Wood. I’m a mathematics major in the class of 2023! Some of my hobbies include singing, listening to music, playing golf, hanging out with friends and meeting new people! I’m from Stafford Virginia and the diocese of Arlington at St Francis of Assisi. I’m a brother of Sigma Phi Epsilon and also enrolled in the Presidents' Leadership  Program. I will leave you with this: "Life moves pretty fast, if you don't stop and look around every once in a while you might miss it." ~ Ferris Beuller's Day Off

Emilygrace louis

My name is Emilygrace.  I’m a junior music major with minors in leadership, math and Spanish.  I’m a Marching Captain!  I come from Arlington, Virginia.  I like Taylor Swift and tea and I care about the Earth and animals.  I’m so excited to be on the CCM team!  My favorite bible verse is Psalms 3:4 “you, O Lord, are a shield around me.  My glory, you keep my head held high.”  My favorite book quote is from We Were Liars by E. Lockhart: “be a little kinder than you have to”

cup of coffee in hand.  I am always down to chat about languages, stationery, and the Bible, and I could spend hours doing just that.  In my spare time, I enjoy watching horror movies, adding to my collection of The Little Prince books, and shopping secondhand.  I find joy in loving the good things our God has put in this world – cats, coffee, trees, language, flowers, granola, prayer – and telling the people I encounter just how good they are.  During my time at CNU, the CCM community has allowed me to grow and blossom in my faith in so many ways, and I am so excited to serve our ministry and help it do the same for others.

Saints contemporary choir and teen choir as a guitarist, singer, and a clarinetist. After high school, I became a candidate member of the Youth Apostles institute, a group of consecrated, single, and married men who pray and work together on working with youth ministry. I'm currently a Spanish and Communications major with a minor in leadership. Aside from CCM, I'm a jumper and multi-athlete for the CNU track and field team. One of  my favorite phrases to use with regards to balancing athletics and faith is one by my spiritual director, Father Capo, “Strong for the kingdom, fit for the Lord.” I'm very excited to be on the Leadership team and am ready for my new chapter in life as getting people STRONG for the Kingdom and FIT for the Lord!

Vice President

Gabe Hain

Hey y’all, my name is Gabe Hain and I am a sophomore here at CNU majoring in Physics with minors in Computer Science and Biology. On the weekdays you can probably find me studying in the library, watching YouTube at the CCM house, or getting fit for the Lord in the gym. Once the weekend rolls around, my bike Betty and I like to get off

campus and spend some time shredding the gnar up in the mountains, or I’ll be hanging out with the boys before Mass. You know what they say, Saturdays are for the boys, and Sundays bring joy. I’m also a volunteer Firefighter / EMT, so if things go bad, I can save your life.

Service & Justice

Maria Cira Angel

Hi! My name is Maria Cira Angel and I am a senior majoring in neuroscience and minoring in biology. I was originally born in Michoacan, Mexico but have lived in Norfolk, VA for over 10 years now with my parents and younger sister. Aside from CCM, I work as a medical scribe for ScribeAmerica and am involved in Alpha Phi Omega, the Latino Student

Association, and undergraduate research in the neuroscience department. I’ve been involved in CCM since freshman year and am very excited to help the ministry grow. Service is something I cherish very much. I hope to show others the beauty that service holds and provide more service opportunities for the CCM community.

Marylee Helbling

My name is Marylee Helbling and I am a sophomore majoring in Marketing with a minor in Graphic Design. I am from Fredericksburg, Virginia. My absolute favorite thing to do is watch the sunset (or sunrise, if I have the energy to wake up early enough) and take in the beautiful sights God has given us. In my free time, I enjoy drawing, messing around with

my own kind of calligraphy style, having dance parties in my dorm room with friends, and going on drives. I joined the CCM at the beginning of my freshman year and have since met amazing people who help further both my knowledge and love of our faith. Let’s end this with James 4:8, one of my favorites, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you of two minds.”

Catholic Campus Ministry has expanded each year to serve the Catholic population at Christopher Newport University and to provide a spiritual home for our students, faculty and staff.
